RE: Congressional sell-out to big business

Here is a copy of the message I sent my Congresspersons.
 

I believe the monetary recovery legislation recently passed by the Senate and the House is a poorly crafted and dangerous bill. I was incredulous to see that the initial draft, which failed to pass, was changed by adding things most Americans consider "pork" just to make the revised bill more palatable to your fellow Congresspersons.

The fact that numerous, unrelated special interest "bribes" were added to the already staggeringly expensive bill in direct opposition to the objections of many of your constituents suggests to me that you no longer represent the people who rely on you to protect and guide our nation. It smacks of an attitude of elitism that would be envied by Marie Antoinette.

I will raise my voice and vote toward your removal from the position of trust I believe you have abused.

Would you consider resigning?

I pray that America will survive your poor judgment and panicked, lemming-like rush to enable corrupt financial decisions by greedy individuals who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions.

If only you would get in touch with the millions of everyday Americans, who must recognize and accept responsibility for their own actions . . . .and who will be stuck with the ramifications of your poor decisions.

Changes proposed by the Obama ticket

These are direct excerpts from the Obama webpage. I added the emphasis and the comments.

"Create Automatic Workplace Pensions: The Obama-Biden retirement security plan will automatically enroll workers in a workplace pension plan. Under their plan, employers who do not currently offer a retirement plan, will be required to enroll their employees in a direct-deposit IRA account that is compatible to existing direct-deposit payroll systems. . . . "

How many small businesses will this requirement close down?

"Fight Poverty: Obama and Joe Biden will double our annual investment in foreign assistance from $25 billion in 2008 to $50 billion by the end of his first term and make the Millennium Development Goals, which aim to cut extreme poverty in half by 2015, America's goals. They will fully fund debt cancellation for Heavily Indebted Poor Countries in order to provide sustainable debt relief and invest at least $50 billion by 2013 for the global fight against HIV/AIDS, including our fair share of the Global Fund."

Let's not think of ourselves in this economic crisis, Let's take care of our friends around the world. Overseas wealth redistribution.

Obama and Biden believe we must fix the dysfunctional immigration bureaucracy and increase the number of legal immigrants to keep families together and meet the demand for jobs that employers cannot fill. "

Do we have an employment problem? Or, an unemployment problem? Look how he plans to put "Americans" to work.
